  • Tarfaya – Africa's largest wind power plant

    For the Tarfaya project, the largest onshore wind power facility in Africa to date, Siemens delivered 131 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines and responsible to service the wind power plant. The turbines have a power rating of 2.3 MW and a rotor with a diameter of 101 meters. The 300 MW project is located 2 km to the south of the town of Tarfaya in Morocco. On the Atlantic coast, the site benefits from ideal conditions for generating wind power.

    The Moroccan government has presented a plan to enhance its energy infrastructure. It aims to meet 52% of its energy demand with renewable energy by 2030, of which 20% are expected to be generated from wind. For the 300-Megawatt-project Tarfaya, Siemens delivered 131 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines and responsible to service the wind power plant. Tarfaya is the largest onshore wind power plant in Africa to date.
